The San Juan Islands are incredibly beautiful. The ferry over from Anacortes gives a beautiful view over the calm waters as you pass between the islands.

Lopez Island is where I spent most of my time, and it was an easy place to fall in love with. The people are friendly, with all the locals giving a special wave to each other as they drive past. It is relatively easily accessibly through the ferry service, and there is also a small airport on the island.
The views out from the island are amazing, and the water seemed to be calm between the island during my stay there, so would be great for sailing.

The sunsets from the island were most impressive. There was not a single night when the sunset wasn't worth watching.
I had my first crab cooked for me, fresh out of the crab trap. I can't say I like all the work it takes to get the meat out, but it's definitely a worthwhile experience, and the crab cakes that they turned into were phenomenal!
I was driving around the island and came across this viewpoint just in time to catch the sunset.
Odin Park is a nice place, with a sandy beach and it catches the sunlight well. It's only just down the road from the ferry as well, which is a bonus!
